Church of St. John Nepomucene, New York, NY

Project Summary:

Project Summary::

For functional and aesthetic reasons, the congregation of this small, Romanesque church needed to improve its old interior lighting. LED downlight retrofits replaced the old HID system and were dimmable to provide for all seasonal uses and liturgies, cutting energy, raising ambiance and increasing reading acuity.

Project Detail::

The entire congregation of this historic Slovakian church benefitted immensely from improved reading light and a more uplifting interior. Over the years, the existing light fixtures had been converted to metal halide, whose poor color rendering detracted from the beauty of the interior and could not be dimmed; thus, the lights could not support the varied usages of the building and its various liturgies.

Working closely with the parish, Rambusch developed a staggered lighting upgrade program. The interior, and particularly the sanctuary, has been brought back to life using retrofit LED downlights and accent lights, all which were manufactured in Rambusch’s Jersey City factory.

The renewed nave and sanctuary of this Romanesque Revival church now sparkles under the crisp 3000K wash of the Mark V downlight, which uses Xicato LEDs, known for their overall quality and color consistency. The system exceeds previous light levels, cuts energy costs, raises ambiance and increases visual acuity.
