New Sacristy Windows for Christ Church
Rambusch was contacted by Christ Church in Short Hills to create an appropriate memorial for a recently passed parishioner. The parishioner had been an avid gardener and a member of the Garden Club of America. The church felt that the windows in the Sacristy, which looked out on a small, contemplative garden, would be a great location for this grouping of four lancets making up the window.
The theme was of a bucolic trellis and rose garden with large sections of lightly moving glass, so the viewer could connect visually to the garden. Great care was taken to make sure that there were a number of rose varieties, which, in keeping with the person being honored, were presented in a botanically- and color-correct fashion.
The verbal design gail came to life through scale sketches, which were refined and finalized in a full-size cartoon which was submitted and approved by the committee prior to the curing, painting, and assembly of the glass. All of these tasks, as well as the final step of installation, were carried out by full-time Rambsuch craftsmen from the stained glass studio.
