Mater Ecclesiae, Vatican Gardens, Rome
Sculpture of Mater Ecclesiae gifted to the Vatican Gardens by Callista Gingrich, US Ambassador to the Holy See. Rambusch was awarded this commission to design and oversee the entire project through to installation.
Honoring the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United States and the Holy See, Rambusch was awarded the prestigious commission to create a sculpture of Mater Ecclesiae — one of the very first.
Overseeing the entire project from concept to design, and through to its dedication, the sculpture was carved from Bianco Carrara marble.
She is a life size image of Our Lady, and now quietly resides in the Rose Garden within the Vatican Gardens.
