New Mosaic Art for Seton Hall Preparatory School
Founded in 1856, Seton Hall Preparatory School is the oldest Catholic college prep school in New Jersey. The School is always seeking to improve its facilities and find new ways to inspire the nearly 1,000 young men under its tutelage. Seton Hall’s faith and outreach efforts are closely tied to its mission, so together with the School and a private donor, Rambusch developed a visual reminder of the Prep’s core underpinning.
Near the main entrance, set within the old water fountain niche at the juncture of hallways, Msgr. Harahan is shown blessing the new life-size mosaic of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, the first native-born American saint. The five-foot tall installation takes design direction from the mosaic of Mother Seton in the 60-foot Trinity Dome of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington, DC.
The unique design places importance on the events of her life through quotes — an inspirational, yet quiet message within the busy halls of the Prep. Every day, every year, young men will pass by and be inspired by Mother Seton’s life and words: “Live simply, so that all may simply live. Be attentive to the voice of grace.”
